A full-time position is available within the laboratory for Molecular Neurogenetics (www.molecular-neurogenetics.lu.se) led by Johan Jakobsson. The Jakobsson lab is interested in how gene expression is regulated in the brain and how this process influence neurodegenerative diseases, psychiatric disorders and brain tumors. The current focus is to study the role of epigenetic mechanisms and transposable elements. The technical expertise in the lab includes gene editing, human stem cell cultures, epigenomics, transcriptomics and single cell analysis.
The candidate will perform bioinformatic single cell RNAseq and single cell DNA-methylation analysis from developing human brain as well as post-mortem tissue from patients with neurodegenerative disorders. The projects will be focused around the investigation of the non-coding parts of the genome including transposable elements. Integration of age, genomics, DNA-methylation and transcriptomics data will a key aspect of the project. If interested, the candidate may have the opportunity to be involved in gene editing experiments of human stem cells.

You possess a PhD degree in bioinformatics, computer science, data analytics or equivalent, and have experience with single cell analysis. You are interested in developing new algorithms and integrate those for the interpretation of complex datasets. The capacity to interpret, connect and visualize complex data is crucial. Background in neuroscience and/or stem cell biology is a plus. Good speaking/writing English level is a requirement.
