We are excited to announce registration for the upcoming Louisiana Biomedical Research Network Summer Bioinformatics Program. The program will start June 1 and last through July-August, providing students and faculty access to online resources and practical experiences analyzing large biomedical datasets. Online materials will be reviewed in interactive sessions and on-site workshops that provide an opportunity to discuss and practice studied topics and analysis methods. The program will review major types of Next Generation Sequencing data types and analysis methods (i.e. genomics, transcriptomics and metagenomics), applications to research and clinical questions as well as machine learning concepts (supervised vs. unsupervised methods, dimension reduction, classification, feature selection, etc.).
By the end of this summer course, participants will be prepared to read and understand typical methods used in cutting edge research publications and learn to deal with complexities of data processing, analysis and visualization. We will also be discussing exciting applications for bioinformatics in basic and clinical research and discuss independent or group collaborative research projects that can be prepared in a short time.
The program is supported by LBRN in collaboration with Pine Biotech and is offered at no cost to a limited number of participants at supported institutions. Additional registration is available at discounted rates for the complete summer course or for workshops that will be held at LSU Baton Rouge and online.
